I recently watched a short video on using Activity Builder in Smart Notebook. I did not realize how easy it was to use.
If you are interested, the video was here:
http://www.coursepark.com/learningnetwork/board/show/id/1452/postId/1248
I created a set of 3 activities to work on beginning sounds in SMARTNotebook 11. The activity can be found here:
http://exchange.smarttech.com/details.html?id=e8ae90e2-7640-484f-919e-030b57b43660
This is a screen shot of the sorting my beginning sound. I could not make a great ST circle so I just dropped that beginning sound for this activity. The pictures will be moved up to the letters. If it is correct it will hide behind the letter, if it is incorrect it will automatically go back to where it came from.
This is a screen shot of my printing page. I will use it to print the first letter of each image, but you could also use it to write the words.

5 Senses Bulletin Board
Here is the bulletin board that we created. It is just outside our classroom door. I used labels from a Carson Dellosa File Folder Game on 5 Senses, old magazines, construction paper, and sticky labels.
We used Smelly Markers and Scratch and Sniff markers for Smell.

Rhyming Worksheets
I updated my rhyming and sorting worksheets for January:
I have uploaded the file to BoardmakerShare but they made the icons coloured - not sure why or how. But here is the the 4 page file:

January Word Mat
In November, I read about a Word Mat on Ana's blog. You can read about it here:

I updated the Word Mat for the current month:

I updated the Word Mat for the current month:
I thought it might be fun to use a Magnifying Glass to find the words so I created one with tiny print:
Before Christmas, I was at a discount store and I found these Melissa and Doug Magnifying Glasses for $1 so I bought a class set, half flowers and half snakes. They have a shatterproof lens, always a great feature for children with special needs.
5 Senses and Popcorn
I created this worksheet to go along with making popcorn in a hot air popper.

Textures and the Sense of Touch
I was looking on Pinterest for some arts and crafts type of activities to complement the 5 Senses this week and I stumbled upon this Pin:
http://pinterest.com/pin/132011832798460113/
I though it was a great idea so I recreated the worksheet with some minor tweaks to work for my students. I will have those that can print print the various textures on each finger and those that can't print, I created a cut and paste solution on page 2 of the file. I am going to print it onto card stock for durability.
Here is the file:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0GA_4i5_JXvbXE1TW5vRkNiRTg/edit
Here is what I am planning on using for each texture:
Smooth - piece of lamination scraps
Rough - sandpaper
Fluffy - pompom or cotton ball
Hard - metal washer
Soft - piece of fleece fabric scraps
Clicker 5 Scrambled Sentences
Here is a link to the Clicker 5 file that I created to supplement Lesson 13:

Clicker 5 is available within all Ontario public schools through OSAPAC. Additionally, it has teacher take home rights, so any Ontario teacher can install it at home to make materials.
Once or twice a week, we have been borrowing the school's laptop cart and we will work with Clicker 5 and WordQ. We have been using WordQ to create our monthly journals. I have two students that have caught on to the word prediction features of WordQ. They have been amazing me with their ability to write!
Resources for January
Here is the desk strip that I created for January. I print it off with 2 to a page and then I use MacTac (Contact Paper) to attach it to the top of each student's desk.
Here is a copy of a piece of the data sheet that I use with my class. I have my students' name at the top of each column. I do whole group instruction for the majority of my literacy instruction and I found this to the easiest sheet to use as I don't need to keep flipping back and forth through data sheets to find the correct student.

5 Senses in January
I have been looking for some extras for the 5 Senses Unit we are starting next week and I found these free resources:
Printable Emergent Reader Book from Making Learning Fun
http://www.makinglearningfun.com/themepages/FiveSenseBeeEmergentReader.htm
There is a tracing version with a boy or a girl as the main character, not something I will use this month but great that Jo has created boy and girl versions:

Posters about the 5 Senses:

Story Starters from Kid Sparkz, you will need to scroll down to find each one:
http://www.kidsparkz.com/fivesenses.html#.UOcntXfNmSq
Within this Popsicle Pack is a 5 Senses Observation Chart for eating popsicles. (I realize the snowy weather is not the best time to eat a popsicle but I believe we have a hot air popcorn popper in the school so I will create an observation sheet for making and eating popcorn)
http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2011/06/popsicles_10.html
(you will need to download the whole Popsicle pack and the Observation Sheet is included)
A Visual Represenation of Noise, you will need to give the website permission to access your microphone. It is very sensitive to noise and I am interested to see how my class will react to making noise and then being quiet to see how the balls will bounce around:
http://ictmagic.visibli.com/share/texdW3 This is by far the best website so far!!!!!
I can't get this one to load but it is an online game:
